The Referee Mentor program provides on-field support to all of our referees. This helps referees improve their knowledge and skills, and helps with retention.
We start at the U10 games (Vineyard Junior High) and strive to have every first-season referee mentored at least once. This is done automatically when first-season referees sign up for a game on the referee scheduler.
Please note - the Mentor slot is visible on the Referee Scheduler for these games - but it is for approved mentors. Please do not put your name in this slot. Most new referees start as Assistant Referee (AR). However, we award a bonus referee point for being mentored at Center. Up two 2 points can be earned this way.
To request a mentor (at center, at another field, or if you are not a first-season referee), contact the Referee Admin
[email protected].
These sessions require advanced coordination and approval.
Our Mentors are Advanced and National referees with 15-30 years of experience as AYSO referees, and are trained on how to mentor new referees. Mentors also earn referee points. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact the Referee Admin.
